After the suspenion was prepped and installed, we removed the drive-train to make sure we get all of the areas ready for paint at our very own body called Auto Magic. This build will be fitted with the wide-body pandem kit and will be displaying a paint job from the NSX grand prix color code. It's really gonna shine in the sun! stay tuned with the build to see how it all comes along and the next post should display the fully built RB26DETT motor.<a href="http://storage.ning.com/topology/rest/1.0/file/get/3001122965?profile=original" target="_self"><img width="750" src="http://storage.ning.com/topology/rest/1.0/file/get/3001122965?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024" width="750" class="align-center"/></a><a href="http://storage.ning.com/topology/rest/1.0/file/get/3001123296?profile=original" target="_self"><img width="750" src="http://storage.ning.com/topology/rest/1.0/file/get/3001123296?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024" width="750" class="align-center"/></a><a href="http://storage.ning.com/topology/rest/1.0/file/get/3001124895?profile=original" target="_self"><img width="750" src="http://storage.ning.com/topology/rest/1.0/file/get/3001124895?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024" width="750" class="align-full"/></a><a href="http://storage.ning.com/topology/rest/1.0/file/get/3001127730?profile=original" target="_self"><img width="750" src="http://storage.ning.com/topology/rest/1.0/file/get/3001127730?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024" width="750" class="align-full"/></a><a href="http://storage.ning.com/topology/rest/1.0/file/get/3001128254?profile=original" target="_self"><img width="750" src="http://storage.ning.com/topology/rest/1.0/file/get/3001128254?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024" width="750" class="align-full"/></a><a href="http://storage.ning.com/topology/rest/1.0/file/get/3001129574?profile=original" target="_self"><img width="750" src="http://storage.ning.com/topology/rest/1.0/file/get/3001129574?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024" width="750" class="align-full"/></a><a href="http://storage.ning.com/topology/rest/1.0/file/get/3001130765?profile=original" target="_self"><img width="750" src="http://storage.ning.com/topology/rest/1.0/file/get/3001130765?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024" width="750" class="align-full"/></a><a href="http://storage.ning.com/topology/rest/1.0/file/get/3001133654?profile=original" target="_self"><img width="750" src="http://storage.ning.com/topology/rest/1.0/file/get/3001133654?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024" width="750" class="align-full"/></a><a href="http://storage.ning.com/topology/rest/1.0/file/get/3001133878?profile=original" target="_self"><img width="750" src="http://storage.ning.com/topology/rest/1.0/file/get/3001133878?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024" width="750" class="align-full"/></a><a href="http://storage.ning.com/topology/rest/1.0/file/get/3001133944?profile=original" target="_self"><img width="750" src="http://storage.ning.com/topology/rest/1.0/file/get/3001135508?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024" width="750" class="align-center"/></a></p>Returning Blue 240z customer is here for some fine tuning.tag:www.jerdevelopment.com,2018-02-03:4945453:BlogPost:398142018-02-03T00:30:00.000ZJER Developmenthttp://www.jerdevelopment.com/profile/MJER

The 240z is back in the shop owner Linh's hands to get the proper care for this beauty. The differential mount was replaced by the factory mount to ensure the differential is to stay in place when getting pushed hard on the track. The fine Nissan mechanic named Tyler is checking for misfires within the RB26dett motor to ensure fine tuning with the finely designed Nissan motor. Future plans for the 240z is to install a quick release battery connector to ensure safe and efficient time at the track. Later when the motor is pulled out of the vehicle, a new freezer plug will be put in place to the back of the cylinder head to ensure no leakage of anything within the RB26dett motor. </a></p>

<p><b>This will be our first blog on the resurrected 86! We worked on countless AE86s and older corollas in the past so working on a new vehicle like this is always new territory to be claimed. We will now begin our reign...</b></p>

<p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><span style="font-size: 21px;">Perrin Crank Pulley</span></span></strong></p>

<p>As you can see, the FA20 clustered with parts on the surface that prevents us to getting to our objective. </p>
<p></p>
<p> </p>
<p><a href="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7434/9220603712_aa46b840f8_z.jpg" target="_blank"></a><img src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3739/9217829225_f59c5e7ecd_z.jpg" class="align-full"/></p>
<p> </p>
<p>From the removal of parts, it required your typical sockets and wrenches. But no doubt that Massive air box had to go.</p>
<p><a href="http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2879/9217829203_75de6f34b8_z.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2879/9217829203_75de6f34b8_z.jpg" class="align-full"/></a></p>
<p> </p>
<p>100 pounds were lost after the removal of parts. Just kidding. But it does look much cleaner. Air intake system removed.</p>
<p><a href="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3821/9217828463_06a4dd42df_z.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3821/9217828463_06a4dd42df_z.jpg" class="align-full"/></a></p>

<p><a href="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7411/9220601554_5208e11b93_z.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7411/9220601554_5208e11b93_z.jpg" class="align-full"/></a>Removing the pulley can be a sucker. luckily this tool showed that pulley how it's done.</p>
<p><a href="http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2809/9220600804_f357995f4f_z.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2809/9220600804_f357995f4f_z.jpg" class="align-full"/></a></p>
<p>As you can see, there was oil near the center, which is normal. However, that crank pulley weighed a ton!</p>
<p><a href="http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2819/9220600208_1eb824d673_z.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2819/9220600208_1eb824d673_z.jpg" class="align-full"/></a>On a comparison note, the Perrin crank pulley showed significant weight difference. OEM was found to be <strong>4.9</strong> pounds and Perrin was found to be <strong>1.2</strong> pounds of <span>6061T6 billet aluminum</span>. Furthermore, the design of the Perrin made sure it had better flow of air as well as quicker response on revolutions per minute.</p>
<p> </p>
<p> </p>
<p><a href="http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2824/9217826609_d0505fa6cf_z.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2824/9217826609_d0505fa6cf_z.jpg" class="align-full"/></a><img src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3818/9217825875_95bd16e8d1_z.jpg" class="align-full"/><a href="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5449/9220603564_c703132265_z.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5449/9220603564_c703132265_z.jpg" class="align-full"/></a></p>
<p>Hand screwed and then torqued down to specifications. And there you have it, Perrin Crank Pulley installed and ready to go, even though you can't see it...</p>

<p>The Aftermath, after installing the lowering springs there is a 1.0" to 1.5" drop as stated by Eibach. If you are on a budget, this is a great modification for all FT86s.</p>

<p>Once all was settled, we test drove the beast to find any flaws and improvements. Overall, the Perrin crank pulley made a difference in response as well as the feel for suspension as it felt more nimble and stiffer, yet still retained its comfortable driving experience. As for the wing, it just looked cool...</p>

<p style="text-align: left;"><span class="font-size-3"> Another year, comes with another anticipating event every Toyota enthusiast wants to be part of. TORC or Toyota Fest, as it is widely renowned brings out the flavors from classic to modern. All are appealing but with the dying breed of classics - they are beginning to vary in smaller quantities at shows and on the streets. This year had many different styles, some are quite mind boggling and some stick to the roots of the past. There were actually more modern cars compared to classics, which surprised us a bit. Don't get us wrong, we love all cars in general but usually Toyota Fest always had a wide array of classics on one grassy patch near the infamous Queen Mary. All in all, we enjoyed the event and snap a couple of pictures here and there. We didn't manage to take our Toyota Celica "RA28" Liftback this year, hopefully the following year we will have her ready as well as Peter's Celica! Stay tuned for more photo blogs and enjoy!</span></p>

As we engaged into these events we noticed many trends in the car scene today as well as old, tasteful styles of the past. Of course, we brought out the Mini Truck as it always sheds a positive vibe towards the spectators. Overall, it was a pleasant experience for both of the events. <p><span style="font-family: arial black, avant garde; color: #000000;" class="font-size-4"> Over the past weekend, JER attended the first 86Fest gathering at the Autoclub Speedway in Fontana, CA. We came in our signature car, the 76 Toyota Celica GT Liftback with the infamous 2JZGTE mounted with a single turbo,to show our love to Toyota and to its younger "86" brothers. As we were there, variety of parts were unimaginable, and by unimaginable parts from small to large are being produced like fire. Speaking of fire, it was a hot day indeed. However, that didn't stop JER from supporting the community. Fortunately, Food trucks were luckily on site and drinks were held at stands. Overall, it was a great event not only for spectators but for owners, drivers, and vendors of all sorts. We would like to thank <a href="http://www.facebook.com/86FEST"><span style="color: #000000;">86FEST</span></a> organizers and staff for holding a wonderful event and hope to see another soon!</span></p>

<p><span><span><span><img src="http://storage.ning.com/topology/rest/1.0/file/get/2945525172?profile=original"/>The system requires minor fabrication of the front struts to be installed. In the case of the 325e, the stock strut housing measures at 51mm. The coilover brought in has an inner dimention of 45mm. So we quickly adapted some a sleeve to accomodate the new strut. </span></span></span></p>

<p>Our good friend Franco decided to purchase the Megan Racing coilovers for his e30, shortly after they were released. He brought them down to JER and documented the install process. Here is what he had to say:</p>
<p></p>
<p>I’ve had my car running and driving around for a bit over a year now, so I figured it’s that time. It’s time to start throwing money at it in hopes that it handles better. And, as we all know, the best place to start is the suspension. Originally I was considering the tried and true Bilstein Sport/H&R combo, but as much as I hate to admit that looks played a factor in this, they were not low enough. So my solution was to go with a coilover setup. Considering I am on a budget, my selection was pretty limited.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Coincidentally, just a month earlier Megan Racing released their Euro Street line for the E30. I have heard good things about them from my friends with Miatas, RX-7s and 240s so I figured I would give them a shot.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>A few days and a couple hundred dollars later I got them in. I was really impressed by the quality. The machining was very clean as was the powdercoating. Based on looks, these are very solid units.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The only problem with these is that they have to be welded. As much as I wanted to do the installation myself, I figured that this is probably not the best project to learn to weld on, so I took it over to the guys at JER Development in Santa Ana.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Front</p>
<p> </p>
<p>I’m assuming that if you are starting this project you know to remove the tires and brake calipers so I’ll start after that.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>To start out remove the nuts supporting the (2) nuts supporting the hub assembly and the (3) nuts on the strut tower. Now the strut assembly can be lowered with hub and all.</p>
<p> </p>
<p><img src="http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa103/PanchoPanoch/e30%20coilover/1-strutsupport.jpg" class="align-center"/></p>
<p><img src="http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa103/PanchoPanoch/e30%20coilover/1-strutsupport.jpg"/></p>
<p> </p>
<p><img src="http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa103/PanchoPanoch/e30%20coilover/2-struttower.jpg"/></p>
<p> </p>
<p><img src="http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa103/PanchoPanoch/e30%20coilover/3-removestruttower.jpg"/></p>
<p> </p>
<p>Next (sadly I wasn’t around for photos of this) the strut housing has to be cut from the hub assembly to allow the new sleeve to be welded in place. We left about 2” so that the new coilover can slide over and still have structural support from the inside while it was being test-fitted.</p>
<p><img src="http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa103/PanchoPanoch/e30%20coilover/4-meganvoriginal-front.jpg"/></p>
<p> </p>
<p>Next the coilover has to be test-fitted to ensure proper alignment and fitment on the car. Once fitment is satisfactory, spot weld while the coilover is still on the car to prevent slight movements.</p>
<p><img src="http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa103/PanchoPanoch/e30%20coilover/4a-testfit.jpg"/></p>
<p> </p>
<p><img src="http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa103/PanchoPanoch/e30%20coilover/5-spotweld.jpg"/></p>
<p> </p>
<p><img src="http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa103/PanchoPanoch/e30%20coilover/6-spotwelded.jpg"/></p>
<p> </p>
<p> </p>
<p>Now the spot welds should be cleaned up and the surface should be prepped for the final weld.</p>
<p><img src="http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa103/PanchoPanoch/e30%20coilover/7-cleanandprepforwelding.jpg"/></p>
<p> </p>
<p><img src="http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa103/PanchoPanoch/e30%20coilover/8-finalweld.jpg"/></p>
<p> </p>
<p><img src="http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa103/PanchoPanoch/e30%20coilover/9-finalweld.jpg"/></p>
<p> </p>
<p>Once the welding is complete, front coilover is ready to install.</p>
<p><img src="http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa103/PanchoPanoch/e30%20coilover/10-coiloverready.jpg"/></p>
<p> </p>
<p> </p>
<p>Rear</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The rear is more direct. First, pull back the carpeting allowing access to the strut tower, or in this case I simply cut a hole in the carpeting since my coilover will be adjustable.</p>
<p><img src="http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa103/PanchoPanoch/e30%20coilover/11-rearstruttop.jpg"/></p>
<p> </p>
<p>Remove the two bolts on top of the strut tower and remove the bolt securing the strut behind the brake drum.</p>
<p> </p>
<p><img src="http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa103/PanchoPanoch/e30%20coilover/12-removebolt.jpg"/></p>
<p> </p>
<p>Once the strut is removed the spring can be removed and the new coilover and spring can be inserted.</p>
<p> </p>
<p><img src="http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa103/PanchoPanoch/e30%20coilover/13-rear-removed.jpg"/></p>
<p> </p>
<p><img src="http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa103/PanchoPanoch/e30%20coilover/14-newvsold.jpg"/><="" img=""></p>
<p> </p>
<p><img src="http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa103/PanchoPanoch/e30%20coilover/15-rearinstalledwide.jpg"/></p>
<p> </p>
<p>Once the coilovers are installed height/travel/preload adjustments can be adjusted using the collars. And dampening can be adjusted on the top of the strut towers.</p>
<p> </p>
<p><img src="http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa103/PanchoPanoch/e30%20coilover/17-rearinstalledclose.jpg"/></p>
<p> </p>
<p><img src="http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa103/PanchoPanoch/e30%20coilover/18-rearadjusting.jpg"/>/p></p>
<p> </p>
<p><img src="http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa103/PanchoPanoch/e30%20coilover/20-rearspringclose.jpg"/></p>
<p> </p>
<p><img src="http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa103/PanchoPanoch/e30%20coilover/16-rearinstalledstruttower.jpg"/></p>
<p> </p>
<p><img src="http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa103/PanchoPanoch/e30%20coilover/19a-frontinstalledstruttower.jpg"/></p>
<p>Overall the installation is pretty straightforward, minus the welding.</p>
<p>I have driven around on these coilovers around LA for about a few months now and haven’t had any issues with them. There is no noise from rubbing springs that is apparent in some lower quality springs. On the softest dampening, even the bumps on the freeway aren’t too annoying, but in the mid-range setting you really start to feel them.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>I haven’t tried them out on their stiffest setting since I have not taken the car out to a track setting, but even in the mid-range the body roll is greatly reduced through freeway onramps and windy roads.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>I've also had a chance to mess around with them on the "skid pad," and the adjustability makes it really easy to get the car to perform the way you want it to.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Driving this car with these coilovers is like night v day. HUGE improvement.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The only downside and WARNING, if you plan on installing these with stock wheels/tires be sure to get spacers for the front wheels. Because the strut tube is significantly shorter the tire rubs on the spring. Luckily the guys at JER were able to fabricate a temporary set for me to get me rolling. But if not for them I would be stuck with a car that wouldn’t roll and no way of getting back to the original parts.</p>
<p> </p>
<p><img src="http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa103/PanchoPanoch/e30%20coilover/21-fronttirerub.jpg"/></p>
<p> </p>
<p><img src="http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa103/PanchoPanoch/e30%20coilover/securedownload-1.jpg"/></p>
<p> </p>
<p>PHOTOS:</p>
<p>The front still sits about the same. The rear settled in and now sits lower. I will post more recent photos.</p>
<p> </p>
<p><img src="http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa103/PanchoPanoch/e30%20coilover/lowered-e30.jpg"/></p>
<p> </p>
<p>It was a bit high in the rear, so I removed the collars from the rear spring perch which gave about half an inch. I also drive the car regularly with the dampening at its softest which has allowed the springs to settle.</p>

<p>Let's get a closer look at this 510 at JER Development. This is what we're working on here, a previously installed SR, non turbo.</p>
<p><a href="http://storage.ning.com/topology/rest/1.0/file/get/3001117360?profile=original" target="_self"><img width="750" src="http://storage.ning.com/topology/rest/1.0/file/get/3001117360?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024" width="750" class="align-full"/></a></p>

<p>JER will start by fixing the angle of how the motor sits in the compartment.</p>
<p><a href="http://storage.ning.com/topology/rest/1.0/file/get/3001118945?profile=original" target="_self"><img width="750" src="http://storage.ning.com/topology/rest/1.0/file/get/3001118945?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024" width="750" class="align-full"/></a></p>
<p>Let's start off by fixing these motor mounts, that clearly need some work. Cutting into the cross member is not a good idea. </p>
<p><a href="http://storage.ning.com/topology/rest/1.0/file/get/3001119942?profile=original" target="_self"><img width="750" src="http://storage.ning.com/topology/rest/1.0/file/get/3001119942?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024" width="750" class="align-full"/></a></p>
<p>While we're in there, lets also clean up this engine with a nice wire tuck.</p>

<p>We'll get working on this, stay tuned.</p>

<p>There's a couple issues to address with the current body, for example:</p>
<p>The way the side skirts were installed</p>
<p><a href="http://storage.ning.com/topology/rest/1.0/file/get/3001122544?profile=original" target="_self"><img width="750" src="http://storage.ning.com/topology/rest/1.0/file/get/3001122544?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024" width="750" class="align-full"/></a></p>
<p>The current paint job shows a couple of discrepancies as well. Drips are some thing you won't find at Auto Magic.</p>
